Home charging in Walmley & Boldmere

A charger that suits your home in Walmley & Boldmere

From Edwardian villas in Boldmere and Maney to the large detached homes of Walmley and New Hall, this part of Sutton Coldfield has plenty of drives and garages that suit a smart charger.

On larger properties the charger often goes on a gate pillar, detached garage or post by the parking area, with an armoured cable laid neatly underground. Two electric cars? We fit twin chargers or two units with load management, so they share your supply safely without a costly upgrade.

We check your supply, main fuse and earthing first and agree the position and cable route with you. Already have solar panels? A solar-aware charger such as a myenergi zappi can top up your car from your own roof. We set up the app before we leave, including Octopus-compatible chargers on Intelligent Octopus Go. See our home charger prices.

We fit home chargers across the area, including:

  • Walmley
  • Boldmere
  • Wylde Green
  • Maney
  • New Hall
  • Minworth
  • Falcon Lodge
  • Banners Gate
  • Four Oaks
  • Sutton Coldfield

Do you install chargers in Walmley, Boldmere and Wylde Green?

Yes. Our team fits workplace, car park and home chargers across Walmley, Boldmere, Wylde Green, Maney, New Hall, Minworth, Falcon Lodge and Banners Gate. Your local number is 0121 285 0136.

Can you fit a charger to an older house in Boldmere?

Usually, yes. Older homes sometimes need a new consumer unit or earthing upgrade first. We check on the survey and tell you before we book you in.

Can the charger go away from the house?

Yes. We regularly fit chargers on gate pillars, garages and posts by the parking area, with an armoured cable laid underground and the ground made good.

We have two electric cars. Can we charge both?

Yes. We fit twin-socket chargers or two separate chargers with load management, so both cars charge overnight without overloading your supply.

Which charger do you recommend?

VCHRGD is our top pick for reliability and customer service. For a premium look, Andersen and the Tesla Wall Connector are popular, and myenergi zappi suits homes with solar panels.

When do I pay?

Only when the charger is installed, the app is set up and tested with you, and you're fully satisfied.

What grants are there for workplace chargers?

Until 31 March 2027, businesses, charities and the public sector can claim up to £500 per socket (40 sockets maximum) through the Workplace Charging Scheme, and state-funded schools up to £2,000 per socket. Your quote shows the grant taken off.

Is there help with the cost of a home charger?

If you rent, or own and live in a flat, and have your own off-street space, you may get up to £500 towards a home charger. There's currently no grant for people who own a house.

What make of charger do you recommend?

We're OZEV-registered for every major brand. Ohme and VCHRGD are popular for homes on smart tariffs, zappi suits solar owners, and Rolec is a workhorse for commercial sites. We'll recommend one that fits your site and budget.

Do I need a supply upgrade?

Usually not. A typical home handles a 7kW charger, and businesses can use load management to run several chargers from the existing supply. Where an upgrade or approval is needed, we make the application for you.

How long will you be on site?

Most home installs are done in a single visit. For businesses we work around your opening hours and can install out of hours by arrangement, so your car park stays open.

Should I get a 7kW or 22kW charger?

Most houses have a single-phase supply, which limits home chargers to about 7kW. That's enough to fully charge most cars overnight. 22kW chargers need three-phase power, which many commercial buildings have.

How do I get a price?

Fill in the form or call your local team. Photos of your parking space and fuse board often let us price a job in Walmley, Boldmere and Wylde Green without visiting, and you'll get a clear, fixed quote with any grant shown.
